Papa’s Letters: Love via First-Class Male

About ten years ago, Judith C. Lovell inherited a bundle of love letters and diary notes written by her grandfather, David Clarence Hurd. “Papa”, as her grandfather was lovingly called, first wrote to Avril Louise Cato in October 1913. Their correspondence lasted almost a year and cultivated a relationship built on faith and trust.

In Papa’s Letters, Judith shares the heartfelt messages that her grandfather wrote to his then-pen pal. The resulting work tells an amazing true story of a pen pal relationship that blossomed into blissful romance and a triumphant testament of an extraordinary love that dared to travel the distance undaunted by borders.
